Automating E-commerce Order Status Questions Without Guessing

Answer order questions from trusted records, not guesses.

← All guides

“Where is my order?” sounds simple. The right answer depends on a specific order, its latest status and whether anything has gone wrong. An AI assistant should not turn a general delivery policy into a made-up tracking update.

Separate general answers from live answers

Your published information can cover normal dispatch times, delivery areas, return windows and how to find tracking details. An individual order update requires a verified order record from the store, courier or another trusted system. Decide how the customer will be identified before showing account-specific information.

Plan the exceptions

A shipment may be delayed, split, returned or marked delivered when the customer has not received it. Write a clear response for each case: what can be confirmed, what cannot and when a person takes over. If tracking data is unavailable, say so and give the next practical step.

Test the conversation, not only the connection

Try a normal order, an order with no tracking number and a disputed delivery. Check whether the answer matches the source record and whether your team receives the full history when the case is escalated.

Useful automation gives customers a trustworthy update or a clear path to help. It should not prioritize instant replies over accurate ones. See ReplyCleverly’s e-commerce customer service page and integrations overview for the product areas to assess.
